Middleton, CT Skatepark Trip!

Mike Lent set up a trip to Middleton, CT. The city of Middleton just completed a new skatepark and we decided we should check it out! I dragged my point and shoot and snapped some quick pictures for prosperity sake!

The park was a crazy mix of bank-slant, bowl slashing, and street gnarling weird obstacles.

Maloof Money Cup Morning

This morning I scurried down to Maloof to pick up my media credentials. I had no idea that skating had actually started today, Friday June 04, 2010. Well I tooled around, walked about and just happened to have a $200 Canon hand held camera in my back pack. I figured, why not put up some pre-documentation. ... Here we go...

Welcome to...

Like Many I love this damn globe...

I would advise utilizing your toilet at home before the festivities...

Rodney Torres was there...

Paul Rodriguez was in the house, getting his warm up on...

I ran into Jason Rothmeyer, whom I have not seen in years, He was all smiles as usual.

The troop was giving there seal of disapproval on the Volcom Coffin Center piece. It appears it might have came out a little too steep!

Curren Caples seem to enjoy the new rail element....

Lot's of items seem to get "tagged"

On my way back to my car, I ran into Dan Pensyl, his lady and their doggy!

And that is pretty much all she wrote!

Thrasher Skate Rock comes to Autumn, NYC

Sick Coverage by Michael Burnett of Thrasher Skate Rock Tour. I even got in (2) photos myself... High lights include Joel Meinholtz doing every trick, Justin Strubing going 100 Miles an hours,  Luca Somberac posing with Phelps, Shoko-Puff Rock Fakie photos, Owen Jones front side Nosegrind over the hump in the bowl, Ian McMartin's Mini ramp dustruction, Tony T's Front Side flip and Tony T's getting the micro phone duct taped to his head; plus insane  Metal madness with mosh pit included! As always, big thanks to the Autumn Crew for letting this go down! Thanks to Thrasher for making the journey and thanks to fellow skaters for shredding!

Austin, Day One!

DAY ONE Austin Texas...

First stop, Mabel Davis Skatepark... Got into town around 6ish so had around 2 hours of shredding....

Next I was on a mission to find some Veggie food! Ended up finding this little spot, that the name seems to escape me....Very good, cheap veggie eats...

My next stop was a little Internet Cafe, swanky bar and local hang out spot called The Spider House.

While at the Spider House, I also took note of a Art Studio showing some cool stuff....

Poverty Level, the united states joke!

I think  its time for our government to look at something that really matters...

An article on the Community Service Society report in the New York Timessuggests that New York is somehow out of step with the rest of country. However, the idea that poverty is not a problem elsewhere is quite misleading. First of all, official figures show that the poverty rate across the country has not significantly changed in the past generation, fluctuating between 12 and about 16 percent. The rate in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area is higher than that in other major cities, with the exception of Houston, where is it 28.1 percent.
In most major urban areas, however, including Los Angeles, Detroit, Washington and Boston, it remains over 20 percent. The poverty figures explode the myth of the rising prosperity in the 1990s. After nearly a decade of Wall Street boom and the enrichment of the top 10 to 20 percent of the population, the middle 50-60 percent is struggling to stay even and the bottom 20-25 percent is falling behind.
Furthermore, the poverty rate is defined arbitrarily at an income level that could more appropriately be termed “extreme poverty.” The government has never bothered to explain how a family of four can live on $16,000 a year when the cost of housing alone is generally at least half of this amount.

Melissa Dafnos versus Bellevue Skatepark in the PNW

I decided to play around with Photoshop and Illustrator this morning. This is another old sequence from 2009. If you have lived in or around the PNW & Skateboard you might know Melissa or maybe have been to the Bellevue Skatepark. Well here I put the 2 together and get a nice sequence of Melissa hip-hopping to front 50/50... Shot in the summer of 2009 with my old D2H...
